At Diamond Experts, an experienced dealer in wholesale diamonds, we suggest purchasing certified jewels. Diamonds with an independent grading report insure the customer that he is getting what he wants. Buying certified diamonds allows you to make informed purchases, and more importantly, to do comparison-shopping. These certificates, or diamond reports, made by experienced and qualified graders using special instruments, and give an expert opinion about the quality of loose diamonds. Certified diamonds have their recognizable details and characteristics listed on their certificates. Exact measurements, weight, cut, clarity, fluorescence, color grade, proportions and finish grade are detailed on the certificate. Hence, the certificate acts almost like a fingerprint for diamond. There may be slight differences in the actual quality of diamonds which have the same diamond grade listed on the certificate. This is because the diamonds may be graded at different labs. GIA certificates* are generally considered the most reliable. EGL and IGI are also well respected. *GIA prefers to use the term "report" even though diamond wholesalers usually call them "Certificate" or "Cert" |
